When I was a young boy, I had an unfortunate tragedy that inflicted my family. As a result, I grew up with limited means which led me to put myself through high school. As I commenced Cegep, I was told by a friend of this fantastic opportunity to be able to borrow money on an interest free basis. I was both working and going to school and needed the convenience of getting around with a car. I inquired to understand more with HFL, who advised me that I would require a co-signor. The process was simple, and my older brother was able to co-sign on my behalf. Within three weeks, I was presented with a $5,000 cheque. Unbeknownst to HFL, this enabled me to become independent and more importantly, responsible for repaying my first loan. It allowed me to be like any other kid at my age and gave me immense self-worth. It is a program that I will never forget and have recommended it to those that are in need. To know that there are programs out there like HFL should inspire those that have the means to assist. I have since co-signed on several HFL loans knowing that it allowed me to be a part of who I am today.
